Getting Started

On-Site Users

  • First, contact the NNF laboratory manager, who can advise you on the feasibility of your proposed project and how we can work together to accomplish your goals. We realize the importance of approaching today's research challenges with an open mind. Do not give up if the facility currently does not have the process or tool you need; we will do our best to create that capability for you.
  • Once we know that we can help you, we will ask you to fill out an application form to initiate your project. If you are a graduate student, the form must be filled out and signed by your advisor. The application will provide us the overall goal and the essential details of your projects.
  • You will then be asked to sign an agreement, which describes laboratory safety, liability, limits on use, intellectual property and fees.
  • You will be given a project number and a staff person will be assigned to your project. The staff person will provide assistance to you particularly during the early phases of your project.
  • All new users will be given a laboratory orientation and safety training.
  • All new users are required to pass the NNF safety test before they are allowed to enter the facility on their own. The safety test is administered by the laboratory manager.
  • Once the paperwork is complete, you will be given your own security code to enter the facility.
